Students really got into our upcycling and repurposing project this year. They worked in partners or solo to take an item that was either discarded or no longer in use, then give it a new purpose or aesthetic. There were so many creative and fun projects produced! Students rescued an abandoned bike from the woods and used it for two projects. We scrounged old books and turned them in decorative elements. Kids found stuff in their yards, closets and even school grounds. Hopefully this helped them see the worth in materials that we throw away or discard in lives, maybe inspire them to repurpose other items in the future.

wHAT IS A MAKER LAB?Our Maker Lab is a place where kids can come to create, innovate, tinker, and explore a variety of materials and technologies. During class students will be exposed to engineering and design, computer science, electronics, and a variety of trade skills. The course is based on student interests, goals and creativity, not a set curriculum.
